Entryway Reveal

Entryway Reveal

Welcome back to the blog after very, very long ๐Ÿ™‚

Seeing you guys here today to share a mini reveal of my entryway. I’ve been sitting on taking pictures of this space but quite some time now (dodging any flying footwear), but here I am and I hope you like this tiny, welcoming entry area to our apartment. (Here’s a tour of our place from when we moved in, if anyone’s interested in seeing empty apartments).

I’ll talk through the space, per usual? Come please. So this is the tiny entry space, right when you enter the apartment. It’s quite dark because of no direct light source, so I decided to decorate it primarily for night-time when I could have dim lighting through it (which is when it looks all warm and inviting to me).

We use this space like most normal humans (:P), to mainly wear our shoes, grab our keys, check ourselves one last time before heading out. And because I don’t allow shoes into the rest of the apartment, this space also functions as the only shoes zone, beyond which wearing anything on your feet can be a cause of danger (socks are exempted).

I wanted to keep things very functional and clutter-free for here, so I kept it very low on frills. My three main essentials were, 1) A bench to sit comfortably to wear/struggle with shoes (my emotional support for those of you who fight an ongoing battle with sneakers), 2)ย  A place to catch our keys and wallets and 3) A mirror (to confirm you made the wrong choice with your outfit, lulz).

I know this rug is not everyone’s thing, but I fell for it so hard when I saw it the first time. It’s over 30 years old and I bought it off Facebook Marketplace from a lady who bought it in East Asia on one of her work travels. She had the most interesting house btw, with hundreds (not exaggerating, HUNDREDS) of cat figurines all over. Anyway, it fit right into our entrywayย  and so I got it cleaned and have loved it since.

The giant wall fan is one of my favoritest purchases ever. I’m sorry you can’t see a full shot, the space is very small to get it in entirety, and a wide angle shot wasn’t turning out right. Anyway back to the fan, I had my eye on it for years at Urban Outfitters but it was always out of stock. I remember the night I saw them post it when it came back into stock and I think I bought it under 3.89 seconds. It fit super well into this narrow section in the entryway but I’ve already seen it as a headboard in my future, or above my desk or a sideboard. I hope we stay together forever.

Also the bench became one of our most fun buys because we just couldn’t find one that would fit right into this space (length, depth, everything), then we found this going out of stock at IKEA with only 4 pieces left in a very far off outlet, that we drove over to get on a weekday so it wouldn’t be gone by the weekend, got there bought it, had ice cream cones on the way back, maza aaya (also nice bench :P).

The leaning mirror is the one I used to have in my bedroom, which I moved here, when I bought the vintage bamboo one for there. It’s so perfect for fixing things right before you step out, please be prepared for lots of mirror selfies from here, thank you so much. Also, the lamp is amazing, we’ve had it for months now, and it gives off the most beautiful light.

So this is it, our little entryway. Small, functional and maybe kind of weird (I blame the rug). Hope the tour was okay, hehe.

  16. The tiger rug is so warm and welcoming, love itโ€™s color๐Ÿ’•. Also giant mirror in entry way is such an amazing idea, you can have that โ€˜final criticalโ€™ look at yourself before leaving the home and can get to how you were looking the whole time as soon as you step back in (which is always a disaster)๐Ÿ™ˆ #realityHitsHard …

and that fan represents me (as a fan) – ok it was lame ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚

  18. Aaah, my favourite blogger I am again proud of myself to choose you as my favourite blogger (lols).
I really like the balance yet details you put in each of your homeโ€™s corner. And now Iโ€™m newly made fan of your entryway bro. The old jananese kinda wall fan, popping rug, and a simple bench make the whole view minimal yet gorgeous. And yes mirror mirror on the wall shehzeen entryway is decent them of all. ๐Ÿ˜›

  19. Love it Shehzeenโ€“I love how you do all your apartments up completely different than last time. It’s like you honour and accept that you have evolved over time and so should your space. I admire how you experiment and branch out deliberately. I love the whole Chinese-theme going on (whether deliberate or not!) with the fan and the rug. Canโ€™t wait for more home reveals. Love.
