5 Days Of Career Talk: Workwear Inspiration (Part 1)

This whole week is ‘5 Days Of Career’ on the blog where I’m sharing profiles of super relatable and confident working women, tips from HR pros, workwear inspiration and a whole lot more.
We’ve been talking so much about careers in general, I thought we’d go a little light and have some workwear inspiration in the mix too? I accept your imaginary approval.
So I asked Sidra to team up with me (you remember Sidra from when she interned with me just a few weeks ago?) and style three looks for work. Today, she’ll be doing three western wear looks that you could wear to the office – classy, cool and quirky. (The desi looks I did are here). I LOVE all looks but I LAHHHVVV the third/quirky one.
Check out all three looks below and Sidra’s commentary and also resources on where we got them. I want to thank River Island who generously provided lots of pieces for this post. All of their items listed below are available in store right now. Thank you River Island Middle East, very much. All other pieces are our own and old purchases so may not be available in stores currently.

LOOK #1: COOL
A lot of work places require a jacket to maintain an air of formality for client dealings. As convenient it is to throw on a pant suit and go to work, it can become very monotonous really fast. Break your mono-toned outfit with a print or stripped shirt (like I’ve done here). An accented power jacket can elevate your look like a boss. This jacket can be patterned or in a non-neutral color that can easily be paired with your usual work pants, skirts and blouses (this one has a slit in the back, which felt so cool).

LOOK #2: CLASSY
Power dressing should be as comfortable as your own skin. If you’re uncomfortable in a pair of pants or heels, it shows. If a pant-suit is not your thing, go easy with separates and you can look just as polished. I always say in every style blog I send out in the universe: All neutrals coordinate amazingly well with each other. So in case you do not have a matching pair of pants with a shirt, it don’t matter. Kill it with coordination and a bold lip (and this way you can create multiple looks from the same few pieces).

LOOK #3: QUIRKY
People who work in creative fields have the opportunity to wear the most crazy things and it’s automatically acceptable, almost expected of them because of their career paths. Don’t shy away from mix-matching patterns and prints (but be careful with too many details together, you don’t want to look like a wallpaper from the 80s). I mixed stripes and checks in the shirt and pants and used an unexpected accessory like this bow-tie with tiny pops of color (bag, lipcolor) to finish off the look…..with sneakers.

That’s it, guys!

I especially loved the idea of pairing neutrals because I get bored by my standard black pant coat set and don't feel like repeating it every time I get to go on a formal networking session cuz half the people are the same and it kinda screams this is the only formal attire in the wardrobe :p this post provided me loads of help thankyouuuuu to both of you ❀️
