I thought I’d do Fridays post a little differently today. I’ve never really shown my place photographed at night (even though I often take pictures of that for myself) and I thought it would be interesting to do that. Even though I love mornings (imagine that) I reallllly love the downtime that comes after work. To be able to disconnect, relax, do things to unwind – and my home is my most favorite place to do that. Having some chai right now and sharing with you my most favorite downtime moments at home.

It’s hard for me to accept that until a year ago I was oblivious to candles. Soul-crushing fact right there, considering how many years I’ve lost out on having these bad boys in my life. Lighting a candle at the end of a day has become one of my most favorite things to do (not even a tiny bit of exaggeration there). On days where I get done with work before N gets back home, I quickly prep the place for us so we can switch off and start winding down. I’ll tidy up whatever crap I have lying around (if I’ve been shooting something, it’s a trainwreck), light a candle, turn on the mood lights (fairy lights have the power to change the world), put on some light music and wash my brain off anything stressful from the day. It’s like getting a tiny brain massage everyday. (I don’t usually have it this dark immediately; when we get into a show with dinner, let’s say, that’s when we take down the brighter lights).

Mood lighting is one of the best things you can do for your home. Buy a good couch, get a nice rug and then get lighting. Awesome threesome.

Impossible for me to end my way without consuming any kind of hot beverage in my life. I always get a cup of chai or some herbal tea (chamomile is supposed to give restful sleep) – either a bit before wrapping up in the living room or take it into bed with me – but it’s mandatory and it’s a no-discussion kind of thing.

Can’t manage this on every night but when I have enough time, I really love to finish off the day with getting into bed with tea, catching up on some of my favorite blogs, checking out insta/snapchat etc, talking to friends and family on WhatsApp and getting harassed by N to look at 9gag with him. Retired life for the win.

Have a great weekend, you guys.

  1. Oh my godddd just felt like I came back from the spa. Your place looks so beautiful and relaxing at night!! Please invite me over! I promise I'll just sit in a corner with my laptop and borrow some of your chai 😀

  2. So much envy! Love the outlook and how you just unwind from everything and relax.. would love to do this every freaking night..

Haina. I can't manage every night either, would be awesome if that could happen

  3. So so beautiful…. I bought these fairy lights too and so far have no clue what to do with them. Generally, my sense of decoration is bad! I cannot even imagine setting up something like this! You are just too good!

Fairy lights are like food to my soul. Just hang them across a window or wrap around a plant. I had them in my bedroom too but they fused and I haven't replaced them yet :O

  4. I loveeee these unwindin picsss. Have nothin like that going onnnnn at my place

  5. Your house is sooooo beautiful at night. What amazing view and what great lighting !!

  6. You're an inspiration do you know that? You give us ideas about life that we never gave a thought to before and how important and therapeutic simple things can be for instance a fragrant candle, couple of fairy lights. Although I wish deeply that you could give us some ideas related to food and beverages other than tea (like you mentioned above) and desserts (yeah I know you have a sweet tooth and you love your teas) but trust me, I hate tea with the bottom of my heart and cannot come up with anything that could be as good and therapeutic as the way you describe tea so if you could suggest something of an on for us non-tea-drinkers that could help us relax and unwind in this environment I'd be grateful.

Thank you so much man. And I'm definitely going to think about this non-chai aspect – never realized the flip side! <3

  7. Loved this post!!!!
Just reading it made my mind relaxed and actually felt the whole scenario. My elder sista went craaazyy on these fairy lights and got a dozen boxes on her recent visit to Dragon Mart and they have been up since then in our room and light up our evenings 🙂 Really does changes the mood once they are ON 😀

  8. I ask the lamest stuff and post the randomest comments but watching your snapchat, I was wondering what do you do will all the takeout walay plastic k dabbay? Do you throw them away or store them? (such a desi thought I know)

Hahaha. I throw them away cos they're not airtight and probably low quality also, so for food purposes, not worth it I guess. Haven't thought about non-food usage waisey, inturresting.

  9. I am in awe, your house looks beautiful at night, fairylights look so perfect.
