5 Days Of Career Talk: Workwear Inspiration (Part 2)

Thursday, November 24, 2016 The Desi Wonder Woman 10 Comments

This whole week is '5 Days Of Career' on the blog where I'm sharing profiles of super relatable and confident working women, tips from HR pros, workwear inspiration and a whole lot more.

Yesterday, Sidra styled western workwear looks (that were honestly pretty fantastic and super practical) and today I'm going to (try and) give you three desi workwear looks that you could wear to different kinds of offices (and that can slightly match upto what Sidra did, lulz). Relevant purchase links are below.

LOOK #1: COOL
(I'm using the terms Sidra gave, just trying to justify because using 'cool' or 'classy' for yourself is sounding so lame, lol)

The first one I did can be the easy, breezy, cool type thing. I don't wear a lot of prints because I'm not a fan of the typical prints most brands do (someone needs to really revolutionize the prints game). But I loved this one by Generation (I got the shirt shortened by about 5 inches from my tailor because I wanted a cropped look). I added this necklace (that's actually a paazaib/anklet that I asked the guy to convert to a neckpiece) and some fringe for extra action.

Resources: Clothes: Generation / Bag: Aldo / Necklace: Blue Souq in Sharjah / Kohlapuris: Fab India / Rings (right hand): Zainab Market and H&M / Rings (left hand): Nepal / Lipcolor: Wet 'n Wild in Bare It All 902C lightly mixed with Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense #40 / Nailcolor: Maybelline Color Show in Blackout 677

LOOK #2: CLASSY
You know the pant suit look for western wear? This is my desi version of it, lulz. It's actually a black dress (that I also got shortened) and wore with palazzo pants. Kept accessories super minimal. This could work for when you've got important people coming into work (senior guys/boss's boss) and/or meetings and presentations. Clean and easy.

Resources: Shirt: StylistaPants: Ego / Shoes: Aerospostale / Bangle: H&M / Rings: H&M / Lipcolor: Medora in Blue Rose 238 / Nailcolor: Maybelline Color Show in Blackout 677

LOOK #3: QUIRKY
It was always my personal mission in life to incorporate sneakers into my everyday desi wear. Mission has been accomplished. I paired the white sneakers with afghani earrings and wore my kurta that I got stitched in two hours on my Nepal trip (Snapchat buddies know). The striped fabric in this kurta was actually from the men's section (for guys' work shirts) and ever since I got this, I want to get a few more (striped black pants fabric for boys is my current goal). I also asked my Nepali tailor friend to put pockets, woohoo.

Resources: Shirt: Kurta I got made in Nepal / Pants: Koton / Bag: Steve Madden / Shoes: Bershka / Bangles: Fab India / Watch: Dad's old watch / Earrings: Blue Souk in Sharjah / Rings (right hand): Blue Souk Sharjah / Rings (left hand): Lady Mauve / Lipcolor: MAC Lady Danger / Nailcolor: Maybelline Color Show in Blackout 677

That's it, bros. Hope you liked them? (I've noted that some of you asked for styling with hijabs, I will work on this and bring you something speshul, Inshallah)

Tomorrow's the last day for '5 Days Of Career Talk' and I will publish both posts together at the same time since my friends are coming to Dubai tonight and I will lost in a bubble of friendship, thanks.

I never feel comfortable in prints from top to bottom but your first looks seems tempting. The second look is elegant without being boring. Third one is my go-to look lol. I like quirky looks.
How about some work specific hairstyle? Care to talk about them?

Also, hats off to you for bringing this awesome career talk. It's beyond inspirational.
