At-Home Salon Blow-Dry + Giveaway (woohoo)!

At-Home Salon Blow-Dry + Giveaway (woohoo)!

Kicking off the interns’ posts with Sidra, the Style & Beauty intern, who recently joined forces with me to test out blow-dry services at home with Glam Nails. We had a total blast getting our hair done together (seriously, what could be better). She’s sharing her experience with all of us with a tiny little input from me about my feedback on my hair. Pretty excited about her first post, you’re going to love her. HI SIDRA!
This is the age of convenience. Anything you need slash want can be delivered to your doorstep on the click of multiple buttons and/or by going through a person dedicated to serve your needs over the phone. It is as simple as that. You don’t have to step out to experience bad weather. You can avoid people driving like idiots. You can stay in your cozy jammies and stay planted on your couch as things you need, make their way to your highness. In short, you can avoid any sort of unwanted, unrequired human interaction. The cherry on top of this super convenient lifestyle is services that are delivered to your doorstep, to be very specific: Blow drys at home.
Glam Nails offer a bunch of salon services at-home including manicures, pedicures, hair treatments, etc. We decided to get at-home blowdrys but they’re also well-known for their signature mani/pedis. Their 2 member team (one for each of us) came over bang on time (at 12 pm, if anyone’s interested), armed with their blowdry equipment and had us ready to go in just under 30 mins.
It’s such a fantastic option for 1) Someone on the go, who may not have the time to get to a salon and get their stuff done (traffic/parking/general commute time). 2) A get-together at-home as a special gift for someone’s birthday/anniversary/farewell/just-a-general-girls-day-out. Guys, if you’re listening, it’s a really fun gift to hand out to your girl and her friends (you’re welcome).
Shehzeen and I both got different styles done to check out how well they’d do on each. Both of us loved our hair. Let’s discuss?
Sidra: The girls were very polite, gentle and interactive. They were not nosy or intrusive; I felt comfortable having them around in a private setting. I was very specific; I wanted a very natural looking blow-dry with outward curls in the lower part of my hair. I’ve had my share of salon level hairstyle/blow-out treatment things so I knew what I didn’t want and gladly I didn’t get any of it. My hair did not turn out old school Lollywood level poofy at all, which is fantastic. My curls were very natural looking and soft, I was able to run my fingers through my hair, moving it around and adjusting it how I wanted without destroying the style. It stayed for two days, which is crazy because my hairs’ darned oiliness gets activated with the heat of the dryer and my styles don’t last more than one night. All in all I would grade this experience highly satisfactory (hair flip).
Shehzeen: I loved, loved, loved my hair (remember on Snapchat?). I decided to opt for a super sleek look since Sidra was going the wavy route. My hair took longer than Sidra’s to do (she was done in about 15 mins) because the girl doing my hair diligently did small portions all over my head to get this majorly glossy look (but we were done in 30 mins). I was verrryy happy with the final product. I asked her to leave the ends straight as well and not turn them in. She suggested doing the front section of the hair with a tiny bit of wave but I went for the sleek look in the front too; still I really liked the fact that she was giving options. My style lasted for 3 days. My hair doesn’t usually get dirty before the 4th day anyway, however what I liked was that the hair didn’t get static or frizzy and stayed just as they were until I washed them. They don’t come with any washing equipment though, so your hair must have been washed prior (interestingly, I used my own regular shampoo and still got salon-grade results). I’d totally get this done from them again, yasss.

  3. Dhm 125? Nopes not worth it. I have a complete phillips n i do wonders with my hair :/

  4. I feel AED 125 is a bit too much, considering that I've triple the hair length and get a super awesome blow dry at AED 80 from a very reputed salon. For such short length, the price should be less 🙁

Of course, if you're getting a service at home, it's going to be more than a regular salon job 🙂 You're saving on fuel, parking, general time – it's not the same. But again, depends on what you're looking for. By the way, I personally haven't seen different prices for different hair lengths, don't you pay the same for all lengths? :O

  5. You both looked gorgeousss?
