5 Days Of The Lob: Day 1

Monday, May 16, 2016 The Desi Wonder Woman 16 Comments

YO. Peepulz. 5 Days series is back after quite some time (thank you Areej for suggesting it on Insta, high-five). I'm going to do 5 ways of styling/doing the lob/long bob and it's all going to be easy, quick stuff you can do on the everyday (I don't know how to do sophisticated anyway).

I've been looking up ideas on the internet ever since I got the chop and there are some interesting styles that look so great. However, some of the flashier styling options require time, commitment and skill and at any given point in time, I'm lacking at least one of those. So I've strictly stayed away from things that would take you more than 5-10 minutes to accomplish and/or also not look overdone.

I'm a huge fan of basics and my ultimate goal is effortless chic (I hope to get there one day) and so this is an attempt at that.

Rambling over. Here we go.

Day 1 of Styling a LOB: Side Pinned

How did I do it? Like I said all the hair is going to be pretty straightforward but I'll explain anyway. Loosely curled my hair and then pinned back about 2 inches of it on one side. Done.

Time it took: Pre-curled hair (mine was from a day prior): 1 minute / Waves + Pinning: 6 minutes (it takes me about 5 minutes to add the waves, especially now that my hair is so much shorter)

Variations on this?
a) Instead of simply pinning back add a braid or twist and then pin back.
b) Pull the hair back tighter and pin to make it severe.
c) Do it with straight hair, like that right below, YA (sorry hair very dry because I don't know why).

Products I used on my hair (first image): Loreal Elvive Color Protect ShampooHask Macadamia Oil Conditioning Hair Treatment, Oribe Texturizing Spray. Used a regular conditioner and skipped the spray in the second image.

What'd you think?

Day 2 tomorrow!

Update: See all of them so far here - Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5

  5. *high five* you're welcome!
I do this! Except i couldn't be bothered using a bobby pin. I've been rocking an inverted bob that grew out to an inverted lob since last year. I added a few layers a couple of months back to change it up. Looking forward to rest of the days!

P.S. could you mention the size of the curling rod you use. I'm in the market for a new one and I'm thinking of getting a 1 1/4 inch as opposed to the 1 inch one I used to have. Cheers!

    1. I'm pretty convinced I'm going to try a bit of angling myself once this grows out a bit, fingers crossed :D And my curling iron is unbranded and absolutely bakwas. I want to buy one myself. I think its 1 1/4 inch but I think I need the 1 inch because my hair at the back doesn't wrap around easily.

  6. Me and a friend are chopping off our hair too! We've always clinged to our oh so long hair, but decided to grow some balls and just go for it this time, cause we've always wanted short hair so bad! Soooo! We've got a double haircut appointment, and gonna do it together. 10 days left with this long ass jhaata! Sobbing a little inside, but your gorgeous short hair kinda tells me "it's gonna be okay, girl. Just curl and pin! You'll look great!" :D

    1. Waise I thought my face would be pretty unforgiving too but after the shock of the initial few hours, I realized, it doesn't make you look big AT ALLLLLL. (if that's your concern hehe)
